Practical endgame skills and material imbalances for club players

Crucial Chess Skills for the Club Player Volume 2 by Robert Ris focuses on chess endgames and material imbalances. It is aimed at club players who want to improve their practical play.

The author's aim is to show the specific features of each piece. He does this in positions with few other pieces on the board, so the character of each piece is easier to see.

The first six chapters cover the king's role in endgames, including rook versus pawn endings, and positions where the initiative decides the outcome. Chapters 7 to 11 deal with material imbalances. The book can be read on its own and is pitched at the same level as Volume 1.
