Following his successful chess puzzle book "Kisses of Death on the Board", which was published by Die Werkstatt in 2010, Martin Breutigam has now come up with his second trick. He has again collected 140 puzzles based on games played by the current generation of masters, with a diagram showing the starting point of an interesting tactical trick. The puzzles are accompanied by entertaining anecdotes and stories about each game. For example, the reader learns how the young Magnus Carlsen expanded his dominance in the chess world, how the teenager Hou Yifan won the women's world championship and what problems a top politician has just setting up the chess pieces. The puzzles, which have different levels of difficulty, are suitable for pondering, training or simply enjoying. Not every one of the 140 game fragments requires a stroke of genius. This means that even amateur players will be able to solve one or two puzzles easily; sometimes a small, clever move is enough to achieve the goal.
