Positional Understanding Through Nimzovich's Key Ideas and 64 Annotated Games

Aron Nimzovich – Master of Positional Chess by Boroljub Zlatanovic is aimed at players who want a deeper positional understanding of chess. Zlatanovic is an International Master and FIDE Trainer.

Nimzovich was a pioneer of positional and hypermodern chess. Concepts such as blockade, overprotection, prophylaxis and the principle of two weaknesses still shape how chess strategy is taught.

The book explains these ideas through 64 annotated games. The author's central point is that improvement comes from understanding the game, not from memorizing moves.

Highlights

  • 64 annotated games across five core themes: center, strategic concepts, maneuvering, constriction and blockade
  • Practical use of blockade, overprotection, prophylaxis and the principle of two weaknesses
