One of the most effective methods of improving chess is to collect the games of a role model and study them thoroughly for their peculiarities. And this is exactly what the authors have done with the games of the Swedish world-class player Ulf Andersson!
\r\nAndersson was among the absolute world elite in rapid chess in the 1970s and 1980s, before he was able to achieve first place in the world rankings in correspondence chess. His games are characterized by great strategic clarity, which is why they are particularly suitable for didactic purposes. Prepared in 15 thematic chapters, Guido Kern and Jürgen Kaufeld demonstrate important strategic motifs from the middle and endgame. The reader is actively involved through training questions.
\r\nTop grandmaster Peter Leko writes in the foreword: »It is gratifying that this work, on the one hand, recognizes Andersson's work and, on the other hand, presents the reader with excellent training material. I think it is particularly important that subtleties are conveyed that are beneficial to the further development of chess: nowadays, we are already too accustomed to the opinions of computer programs that every book that makes us think again is an important addition.
\r\nThis book opens your eyes to what really makes a world-class player!«
