Caro-Kann is a very tricky opening. Black's play is based on fighting for key white squares to control. In the late 90s and early 2000s, this opening was very popular due to the success of greats such as Karpov, Anand, Dreev, etc. Recently, thanks to powerful engines, many decisive developments have been made and many new lines have been introduced, while others have been completely refuted. I have carefully analyzed the new trends and found some new ideas for Black. Dynamic play based on a strong strategic foundation has always fascinated me, and on these DVDs I have suggested the lines that I personally prefer in practice. Recently at the World Rapid and Blitz Championships in Qatar, I was able to use many of them with great success, which gave me important victories over top grandmasters GMs Vachier Lagrave, Radjabov and Jobava, as well as a draw against Vishy Anand.
